Leonardo da Vinci - Story life - part 1
Leonardo da Vinci was the embodiment of the "Renaissance man", a man who had attained mastery over all branches of art and science.
He was a painter, sculptor, architect and engineer besides being a scholar in the natural sciences, medicine and philosophy.
Leonardo is probably most famous for painting the Mona Lisa, which is one of the world's best-known and most widely recognized works of art.
Leonardo da Vinci was born on the 15th of April, 1452, as the illegitimate son of the notary Ser Piero di Antonio da Vinci and a peasant woman named Caterina
in a small town called Vinci, near Empoli, Tuscany.
Although last names were already in use in Europe at the time, Leonardo never had one. His full name "Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci" means "Leonardo son of Piero from Vinci."

strasbourg - france
Strasbourg is the capital and principal city of the Alsace region in north-eastern France.

Gyrfalcon
The gyrfalcon is the largest of all falcon species.
The Gyrfalcon breeds on Arctic coasts and islands of North America, Europe and Asia.
It is mainly resident, but some Gyrfalcons disperse more widely
after the breeding season, or in winter .
Its scientific name is composed of the Latin terms for a falcon, Falco, and for
someone who lives in the countryside, rusticolus.
This species is a very large falcon, about the same size as the largest buteos.
Males are 48 to 61 cm long, weigh 805 to 1350 g
and have a wingspan from 110 to 130 cm (43 to 51 in).
Females are rather bulkier and larger at 51 to 65 cm (20 to 26 in) long,
a weight of 1180 to 2100 g (2.6 to 4.6 lbs) and have a wingspan ranging from 124 to 160 cm .
In dimensions, gyrfalcons lie between
a large Peregrine Falcon and a hawk in general structure; they are unmistakably falcons with pointed wings, but are stockier, broader-winged, and longer-tailed than the Peregrine.

Falco sparverius
he American Kestrel (Falco sparverius) is a small falcon.
This bird was (and sometimes still is) colloquially known in North America as the "Sparrow Hawk".
This name is misleading because it implies a connection with the Eurasian Sparrowhawk Accipiter nisus, which is unrelated; the latter is an accipiter rather than a falcon.
Though both are diurnal raptors, they are only distantly related.

Falco chicquera
The Red-necked Falcon or Red-headed Merlin (Falco chicquera) is a bird of prey in the falcon family.
This bird is a widespread resident in India and
adjacent regions as well as sub-Saharan Africa. It is sometimes called Turumti locally.
The Red-necked Falcon is a medium-sized, long-winged species with a bright rufous crown and nape. It is on average 30–36 cm in length with a wingspan of 85 cm.
The sexes are similar except in size: males are smaller as females as
is usual in falcons. Young birds are buff below
with less extensive barring and duller upper plumage.
The adult of the African subspecies Falco chicquera ruficollis has a white face apart from black moustachial stripes.
The upperparts are pale grey, with black primary wing feathers and tail tip.
The underparts are white with dark barring on the underwings, lower breast, belly and undertail. There is a buff foreneck band. The legs and eyering are yellow.
The voice of this species is a shrill kek-kek-kek.
West African males are known to weigh between 139 and 178 grams, while females are found between 190 and 305 grams.
The particularly large African birds from south of the Zambezi River are often separated as subspecies Falco chicquera horsbrughi
but the size variation may be clinal and the latter subspecies not valid.
The Asian nominate subspecies Falco chicquera chicquera has rufous moustachial stripes, lacks the buff breast band, and is less extensively barred than the African subspecies.

Sun Bear
The sun bear is the smallest member of the bear family.
Adults are round about 120 too 150 centimetres tall
and they weigh 27 to 65 kilograms.
Sun bears are easy to spot with their short sleek black fur
and unusual crescent shaped patch of yellow or white fur on their chest.
Their paws are large with long curved pointed claws
which are good for climbing trees.
Sun bears are found in lowland tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia.
Experts think they sleep in trees (Not the experts silly the bears!)

This means sun bears are omnivores.

Christmas morning
You know Christmas is coming when the shops start filling with stocking fillers, those books that – the other 11 months of the year – you wouldn’t look twice at.
A lot of publishers rush release sub-standard dreck in order to get barmy grannies to part with what little hard-earned they have left to amuse little Johnny for all of five seconds amid the mad rush of opening presents
on Christmas morning.
For the most part, stocking fillers are a waste of money and a waste of time – both the time of whoever put it together and the time you’d spend actually reading it. Rare indeed is the stocking filler worth time and money.
Thankfully, 100 Facts about Pandas is one of that rare breed.
As the title goes some way to suggest, what
you get for your money is indeed 100 facts about pandas – but the facts are not your run-of-the-mill ‘Pandas like bamboo’/ ‘Pandas have trouble conceiving’ / ‘Pandas are one of
a limited number of black and white animals’ variety. The presence of young David O’Doherty will alert the more culturally cunning among you (O’Doherty is one of those comedians who has been up-and-coming for years, those who are aware of him will vouch for
his unique, offbeat hilariousness – but there are more people who have yet to hear of him than otherwise).
100 Facts about Pandas is largely 100 – whisper it – made up jokes about Pandas.
Did you know for instance that after
concerted effort a group of scientists decided that the collective noun for Pandas was ‘cupboard’ – as in ‘a cupboard of Pandas’?
Or that a cupboard of Pandas will only be
photographed in even numbers (you’ll never find an odd-numbered cupboard)? Another ‘famous’ Panda mis-classification?
They are not considered a mammal – they are considered a nut; which is why Adolf Hitler, a vegetarian, was allowed to feast on pandas.
Oh yes – and all pandas are born female. Males are only created if a panda receives a fright in its first 48 hours of life. This is why some zoos employ panda spookers. Of course.
Comedy is one thing. Visuals are another.
Mike Ahern’s photoshopped pandas (who illustrate each Fact in oblique or explicit ways) provide just as much fun and
amusement as the facts themselves, which – for this reader at the very least – means 100 Facts about Pandas is very probably a book you need to glance through at least twice (putting it at the
very top of all creditable stocking filler lists!).
Any Cop?: If you’ve ever wanted to learn about panda’s homing instincts, usage as spies, or that a panda can travel faster than a cheetah when it runs backwards, 100 Facts about Pandas is undoubtedly for you.

new Iphone OS 3.1.2 is released
The new Iphone OS 3.1.2 is released yesterday for all generations of Iphones.
It is a pretty huge 241 MB download but there are no new features included into this version. Instead there are a few fixes for some bugs and Apple says there are urgently required for your safety.
* Resolves Sporadic issue that may cause iphone to not wake from sleep.
* Resolves intermittent issue that may interrupt cellular network services until restart.
* Fixes bug that could cause occasional crash during video streaming.
You can download it by connecting your iphone to the itunes software and that's it, you are ready to fix some bugs reported by Apple.

How to Rip a DVD in Ubuntu ?
Ripping DVDs in Ubuntu is not very well documented.
This guide explains how to rip DVDs to mp4 format using Handbrake.
Installing Codecs
It is necessary to install the DVD codecs on Ubuntu before installing Handbrake.
For instructions on how to do this, see Playing Encrypted DVDs in Ubuntu.
Installing Hanbrake
To install Handbrake in Ubuntu, go to
http://handbrake.fr/downloads.php
and click on the download link for Ubuntu x.xx GUI, i.e. 9.04. Choose the architecture, 32bit or 64bit, depending on your system architecture.
Download it to your Desktop folder and double click on it to open the .deb file in GDebi Package Manager. Click on Install Package to begin the installation.
The installation should take about 2 minutes.
Using Handbrake
Handbrake is very simple to use. Insert your DVD into the DVD drive, and on the prompt that follows, select Do Nothing. Go to Applications ->Sound & Video -> Handbrake to open Handbrake. In the menu bar, click on Source to select the source. In the window this opens, there is a sidebar. Normally, this sidebar will contain a link to the DVD in the drive, usually with the name of the disk. Click on this.
If there is a VIDEO_TS folder, select the Open VIDEO_TS Folder checkbox below. Otherwise, locate on in the same window the file you want to rip and select Open.
Handbrake should now scan the file(s) and give information about the length of the tracks, and allow you to select which tracks you want to rip.
You can set the filename and folder in an option box.
Below there are a nmber of tabs, including Picture and Video, which allow you to set various options such as Bitrate and Resolution. When you have changed any settings you wat, click Start to begin encoding.
The process can take from about 10 minutes to several hours, so do not be discouraged if it seems to take ages. When it has finished, open the location of the stored video and play.
It should now work nicely!!

Facebook Lite, which can now be accessed at Lite.Facebook.com, will let users access a lightning-fast edition of the popular social networking website thus making
it easier for users with slow connections to navigate the website easily.
The Lite version actually disables all sort of modules such as Highlights in the sidebar, advertising and applications
which not only makes it an ideal solution for users with a slow connection
but also for those who only use Facebook for the sake of checking updates and posting comments.

Windows 7 Logon Background Changer is a free open source software
that let you change the wallpaper of the Windows 7 Login screen.
This small program is WPF based decent GPU for the 3D animations to run smoothly.
On the usage part, its pretty straightforward. Run the app
choose a folder that has the images that you want to keep as the background of your Login screen, select the image and click Apply.
It automatically creates a cropped and resized version of the image
that you select which is then applied as the background of the Login screen.
And the best part is that it does not mess around with the system
files so it is completely safe to use.

accident between cell phone and Mercedes car
This is why you don't want to use your phone while driving
Cell phones can be dangerous to drivers. Especially
when they’re GINORMOUS, and land on your car.
Details are sketchy, but apparently a promotional
billboard-mounted mock giant cell phone in Russia fell off its pole and landed on a Mercedes parked below.
Or is it a publicity stunt?
